Elopement

If you would like to have a sweet and simple marriage ceremony, I do provide an "elopement" service for the couple and up to 4 guests at my law office in Grinnell, IA. This service is available by appointment 7 days a week, 8am-6pm, for $100.

Legal Requirements

Iowa law requires, at minimum, a marriage application obtained from the county recorder's office prior to the wedding, a 3- day waiting period, a wedding officiant to solemnize the marriage, and two witnesses.

Fees

My passion is working with couples to create a ceremony that is meaningful to them and that reflects their commitment to each other. Because each ceremony is different, I will consult with you and provide you a quote for your personalized ceremony. Most ceremonies will fall in a cost range of $400 to $600.

Your wedding officiant is empowered to lead you as you promise to commit yourselves to one another in a legal union. As your wedding officiant, I will lead you through a fun and easy process to build and personalize a ceremony. We will create vows and expressions of unity that have special meaning to you.

Ceremonies may include expressions of unity such as lighting unity candles, sand ceremonies, prayers, blessings, the reading of poems, jumping the broom, or any other symbol of love that has meaning to you as a couple. We can also include children or other special family members in your ceremony if you would like.
